Meet Our Deep Cybersecurity Experts: Ruben Mbon, CISSP, GCPM, Cyber Security Lead at DeepSeas

In a DeepSeas series titled “Meet Our Deeps,” we introduce you to our cybersecurity experts who are serving in the cyber seas. Today, we introduce you to Ruben Mbon, a Cybersecurity Lead at DeepSeas. Let’s dive in to learn more about his work and career.
Q: Hello, Ruben. Please tell us about your current role as a cybersecurity expert at DeepSeas?
A: I am a DeepSeas Incident Response leader within the professional services team. I oversee and support the capability build and operation activities; additionally, I oversee the IR service delivery to our DeepSeas clients.
Q: What do you love the most about your work at DeepSeas?
A: One of the things I enjoy most about my work is the variety and diversity of clients and projects. Each client brings new challenges and opportunities for problem-solving, keeping my job interesting and dynamic.
Additionally, the flexibility of being able to work remotely with occasional travel is a great perk. The fast-paced and ever-evolving nature of the cybersecurity industry also keeps me constantly learning and adapting.
Q: Will you please share a little bit with us about your career journey as a cybersecurity expert? Any major milestones you are proud of or particular hurdles you overcame?
A: My 12-year career journey in cybersecurity has been marked by professional growth and diverse experiences. Starting as a junior analyst and small business owner, I have progressed to a leadership role, gaining experience in both government and commercial sectors. Some notable achievements include obtaining a Master’s Degree while working full-time, starting a small business (now closed), and launching a personal blog from my perspective as a cybersecurity expert. Additionally, throughout my career, I have been promoted several times and had the opportunity to be part of some exciting projects that have allowed me to broaden my expertise and skills.
